1 day workshop

Students make a 1 metre 'quilt' top from calico according to my instructions before the workshop. It has blocks, joiners or sashings and borders. They are able to learn all the methods of machine quilting without 'spoiling' a valuable quilt. At the end of the day, the dog might have a new quilt! Techniques covered include:

• quilting with a walking foot
• quilting with a free hand foot
• several ways to 'do' straight lines
• grids
• marking designs onto the quilt top
• outline quilting
• fill-in patterns
• quilting with decorative threads
• echo quilting
