1 day workshop

In this workshop students prepare a 1 metre calico 'quilt' top to learn the ins and outs of free hand machine quilting. I like to call this a 'scribble sheet'. Students learn how to manipulate and handle a big quilt in the machine while experimenting with many beautiful quilting patterns giving them confidence to quilt all those unfinished quilt tops in the cupboard!

This workshop is suitable for those who have never used free hand quilting methods or those wanting to learn more patterns and methods, and is a good follow-up workshop to Machine Quilting-The Basics.

Students will experiment with a minimum 8 different fill-in designs including:

• stipple
• water
• flowers
• feathers
• stars
• and several alternative decorative threads
• circles
• wavy lines
• butterflies
• soap bubbles.
