Using free hand machine quilting, students experiment with quilting 8 curvaceous in-fill designs including trailing hearts, ribbon grid, bubbles and peacock feathers. They also learn to create gorgeous swirling feathers in circles, to fill shapes like squares and triangles with feathers and to quilt sumptuous swirling feathers suitable for borders and sashings and for in-filling any area.The circular feather teaches quilting on pre-drawn designs and all other quilting is done with wonderful free hand work.

Students will gain confidence as they explore the techniques of drawing on paper and then 'drawing' the design in quilting ready to go home and work on all those quilt tops! Working on a 'quilt' while learning these techniques teaches students to manipulate and handle a large quilt while machine quilting.

Students should have some prior experience with free hand machine quilting but need not be masters of the technique.
